Migrant Learning Centers

Migrant Learning Centers, which nowadays compromise Kick Start Art’s flagship project, employs local migrant/refugee artists to execute carefully crafted lessons in a number of partner schools and community centers.

The migrant schools on the Thai-Myanmar border largely exclude art from their often rigid school curriculum, and KSA's projects give students the opportunity to have fun and build confidence through the emphasis on creativity. The students in the learning centers are displaced children from Myanmar ranging between 7 and 19 years old.

Along with the migrant schools, Kick Start Art offers workshops and art classes to various migrant communities along the Thai-Myanmar border that include orphans and ethnic minorities. The children in these communities sometimes don’t have access to any formal education, so KSA’s ability to reach these communities is considered extremely invaluable.
