Workshop on Ethics, Creative Facilitation, and Health Promoting Practice
This professional training workshop, led by Camillo Ocean, introduced participants to the principles of resource-oriented creative practice and the ethical responsibilities involved in facilitating arts-based activities in community settings.

Why is this training important?
Drawing on contemporary research in craft psychology, positive psychology, and neuroscience, the workshop explored how meaningful creative processes strengthen wellbeing through experiences of mastery, engagement, agency, and flow. Participants were also introduced to the relationship between the nervous system and creative practice, examining how structured art and craft activities can support attention, emotional regulation, and resilience.
A central theme of the workshop was the distinction between health-promoting creative practice vs. art-therapy and psychotherapy. Through presentations, case discussions, and reflective exercises, participants developed a shared understanding of professional roles, ethical boundaries, informed consent, and the importance of creating psychologically safe environments without assuming therapeutic responsibilities.
The training combined current research with practical application, equipping participants with tools for facilitating inclusive, ethical, and meaningful creative activities in educational, community, and cultural settings. Throughout the workshop, focus was placed on recognising participants’ needs, communicating boundaries clearly, and using creative practice as a resource for strengthening wellbeing and resilience.
